About Us

Who We Are

Namclear is the Namibian Automated Clearing House (ACH) and is a designated Financial Markets Infrastructure (FMI) for the Namibian Payment Industry. We provide local clearing of interbank transactions, such as electronic fund transfers, card payments, and settlements on behalf of participants through the Namibian Interbank Settlement System (NISS), with the Bank of Namibia.

Our History

The Namibianisation of the National Payment System was undertaken to reduce various payment system risks and to increase Namibia’s financial system efficiency. Given the clearing and settlement risks the Common Monetary Area (CMA), which includes Namibia, were thus encouraged to establish their own financial clearing and settlement arrangements and for cross-border transactions.
